Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique was developed by an Australian actor F.M Alexander over a hundred years ago as a result of solving a voice problem. It is a way to become aware and unlearn habitual patterns that have an effect on our health and wellbeing.

It is based on a certain natural relationship between the head, neck and back, conscious and reasoned body awareness, spatial awareness and behavioral awareness, developed so that long-held patterns of movement, posture, breathing and muscular tension can be reassessed.

During the lessons the principles are learnt through simple activities with the help of the teacher’s hands. The Alexander Technique is suitable for people of all ages and levels of physical fitness.

With the Alexander Technique one can learn to release tension and discover balance of mind and body. The technique can be used for many purposes like:

  • Improving one’s performance
  • Better balance, poise, breathing and flexibility
  • Learning, training and practising
  • Recovering from injuries and complaints
  • Releasing pains
  • Reducing stress and stage fright
  • Finding the ease and lightness in movement
  • Self development

The Alexander Technique is taught by qualified teachers who have completed a certified three-year full time training program.
