
My greatest hope for those who take my class is that it brings them joy and space and that they learn new things about themselves. I teach Pilates technique to teach people how to move more intelligently, more thoughtfully, to challenge postural habits and previously held limits. To feel empowered by this new knowledge and to experience, over time, how profoundly this knowledge can alter the quality of your life.
Jill Locke began studying classical dance from an early age and was dancing professionally from the age of fifteen. Before moving to the Netherlands six years ago, she lived and worked in NYC for various contemporary dance and opera companies. Jill received her Pilates certification in NYC with Kelly Kane and continued her certification here in Amsterdam with Jelena Petrovich. In addition, she studied yoga extensively with Peter Rizzo in NYC and has a strong 15 year yoga self practice. Jill is always busy with continuing her movement education and is in regular attendance at workshops and seminars that deepen her understanding of anatomy, injury and rehabilitation, and touch.
